Q: "My child seems to be doing poorly on the tests. How can they do better?"

A: Unlike the reading quizzes, the tests do not come straight from the textbooks. The best place to study for the tests is from the notes and activities we do in class. Each unit, I hand out a packet that has all of the note sheets and activity sheets. I make the tests straight from this packet. Your student should be familiar with all the content in this packet. If they look over the material a couple days in advance and review them before the tests, they should do very well.
